There are lessons that can be learned from not backing up information, or as in real life not having receipts, or hard copies of all legal and school information. It makes you wonder how many potential authors have given up on writing because they lost a two hundred-page book. If you are experienced enough, or have learned a rough lesson from life about backing up information, you might want to change web hosts when you have a full-fledged website. Don't be confused, moving an entire website can be done, but you had better be very careful when doing it, that means backing up religiously ever changed you've made to your website, and knowing what you're doing. Read on to learn about some techniques that will help you when moving your website to a new hosting service company.
Moving a website is certainly not the same things as moving a parked domain name from one web hosting service to another. Read below about some trick and techniques that you can employ when moving your site to another host.
Back Up Everything. If you listened to your mother when you were young, you are in the habit of backing up everything, from school thesis to a copy of your driver's license. Unfortunately, most of us still have that lesson to learn, and some of us never learn it. If you care about your website then you'll make It would be a good idea to make a backup on a CD and copy twice your latest files to your hard drive. Make sure that your anti virus software is up to date, so you'll not be crying if your system becomes infected with a virus, and worse yet – crashes. The reasons for continuous back up is you need to be prepared for human error too when you're moving information, over writing of files can destroy all of the hard work you've put in to making your website work.
Check the Control Panel. Hopefully, before you do anything you'll know what control panel you're using at your new host website. Different hosting companies use different control panels, and you'll need to learn which one you're dealing with. Keep physical notes too when on the directory information of the files because the structures could be wildly different. Also, know what type of transfer type you're dealing with whether it's an ASC or binary type computer formatting language.
Data from Server Logs. If you have an e-commerce site please don't forget to make copies and backup all information, you don't want to loose thousands of customers from data loss. Most web masters have server logs to analyze data on whom is visiting their site, and how they're visiting it. Always have a good log analyzer and download your log statistics, so you can reexamine your information at a more convenient time for you.
Obtain Host Servers DNS.
Obtain your Temporary URL. Don't make a DNS change until you have completely checked your site out for bugs.

In every philosophical school, three thinkers succeed one another in the following way: the first produces out of himself the sap and seed, the second draws it out into threads and spins a synthetic web, and the third waits in this web for the sacrificial victims that are caught in itand tries to live off philosophy.

Download or Buy an FTP Script. Linux is usually free and Windows does require a fee for the right to use their product to use in conjunction with your web server file logs to change and to download or upload file information. Remember, back up of everything is important, so backing up your root folder and sub folders is paramount.
Obtain Script Program. It might be necessary to reinstall any script programs on your new web hosting site. You want to be able to access your email and forms for your new hosting service.
Inform your old host about change.
Finally, it would be a great idea to send out an email informing your customers of the host service change. Keep them updated and informed, and let them know to inform you if they go to your website and certain parts of it are not working properly. Happy customers that will return are your goal for you and your website.
Also, if you feel that moving it all on one day is too much, schedule it for a time that you can devote your full attention to your move. Moving your total site on a day during the holidays or when you're especially busy, is not a wise move for you to do. You can move it in pieces, and check on it to ensure that all is working properly. Once you're sure that al is functioning properly, release the old account by informing your old hosting provider. Give this plenty of time, a month would not be unreasonable to ensure that all email functions and other vital functions are working properly, such as your shopping cart and other types of form scripts.
Have fun with your new web hosting server and the potential it can bring.
