When you find the means and the will to venture into the realm of selling your Podcast, things can be very confusing. With so much competition online all biting at the apple, how do you know you are going to make an impression? Well, you don't. You may, however, find that with a little guidance you can at least make a crack at it. Many before you, and surely many after are in the position of failure. Why this may be one would ask? It is relatively simple, poor planning. In every business not excluding Podcasting, there are basic fundamental skills and rules to follow for success. The ones that follow these rules win, the ones who do not, are in a different line of work now. There are many facets to a business that seem to fall to the wayside. Not likely intentional, but rather weak strategy, poor management and a lack of drive seem to be the biggest contributors to this failure for having a successful business at Podcasting. When you know what you want and have set a goal for yourself, it is only you who will win or lose. Here are the top five "must do's" in the Podcast industry to be successful and sell.

Take the plunge and don't be afraid to act. You cannot worry about whether or not you will sell one or a million copies of your Podcast. You cannot spend time with the "what ifs", you have to just do it. You know that your Podcast will help others to be great and you deserve to market that. If you chicken out you will be denying you and everyone else what your Podcast has to offer.

Follow the trends that tend to be hot. Always do your homework and see what is in demand. You want to not over saturate any market because your Podcast will not sell. You do want to pick something that interests others and helps them to succeed in their own lives though.

Never waste your time or anyone else's. If what you have is not really worth selling and you would not pay for it, do not waste anyone's time or money. You cannot expect people to pay for just anything. They need to get something of value out of it.

 Bit of History
There’s a cool web of language winds us in,
Retreat from too much joy or too much fear.
—Robert Graves (1895–1985)

Customer care and client needs come first. Always show you are giving to the client, more than they are paying for your Podcast. You should always offer bonuses and discounts to your Podcast products especially to the customers you have already. Make sure that you promptly thank them for the purchase and that they found your Podcast useful. Your customers that buy your Podcast can make or break you so treat them right.

Niche products and niche markets do work. Make sure you are always promoting your business. Always have a top-notch web page for people to read about other satisfied customers and high content articles.

With so many people trying to work from home on the Internet and making Podcasts it is amazing just how many of them really do not have the slightest idea of the workload they have gotten themselves into. This is a huge mistake on their part. A Podcast that does not help or benefit anyone will just not sell no matter how much you want it to. You must know what you want in order to find a way to obtain it. It must be clear to everyone willing to jump into the Internet marketing world, if you are not sure whether or not your Podcast can benefit anyone you might want to save yourself some aggravation. It is easy to want your Podcast to sell, but that does not mean that you will get your wish and anyone will care. You have to be willing to make a great Podcast that gives something of value to your client and is also well thought out and good. The art of Podcasting can be a fascinating tool; with the right direction it can be a powerful moneymaker as well. Having the rules down, will surely give you the push you need in the right direction and the edge you need to win. Keep those rules close; never let them out of your sight, and good luck.
