With the countless thousands of Podcast shows that are on the market these days, just how many of them do you believe are any good? Well, to tell you the truth, not too many. However, this is by no means a way of saying all of them are garbage, just some that are very lack luster. Being able to put out a great Podcast and keep it running longer than one show, takes some dedication and a fair amount of skill. You need to be able to generate a great flow of material, in order to keep people interested. What could possibly make people interested on a continual basis? What is the key format for success? In general the best way for you to be successful is by having a theme for your Podcast. It is not enough for you to simply play music on your show, and keep the audience entertained. What you need basically is a gimmick, or theme.

First and foremost, one of the best ways to get the listeners attention is by way of a catchy tune. This could be used as the show's introduction, once the listener hears the song they automatically know what is to follow. This is a great set up, when you are trying to hold your audience. The ability to keep this audience is not an easy task to say the least. People these days need entertainment; with this method people find room in their busy and sometimes boring day. This can easily be done by way of a catchy theme for your show; it could be something simple or even something leaning towards the completely bizarre. Anyone who has done a Podcast before can tell you just how hard it can be to keep an audience. This is not necessarily due to poor set up. Rather it may be as simple as boring content. So it is time to set up something that will keep the masses interested, a program that will keep them entertained.

 Quote of the Day
There is never a beginning, there is never an end, to the inexplicable continuity of this web of God, but always circular power returning into itself.
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Say, for example, that you wish to start a show on sports, not just a constant ramble on the subject, but a full-fledged timeslot filled with news and scores. Without great material, and a good rapport with your listeners, this type of Podcast could fall off the charts rather quickly. You need to grab their attention right from the start of the show; one of the best ways to do this is by a great opening song. Something that most people associate with sports would be a wonderful idea, try picking something that is easily recognized and enjoyed by most sports fans. This will have the attention of your listeners right from the start, as most people know if the opening is boring they will not listen to the broadcast any further. The idea to keep the audience entertained is to add humor and life antidotes to the show, have them relate to the words you speak.

Another really great way to get the crowd into the show is by adding a co-host. The best method of this is to add someone of the opposite sex. Some of the best teams on air are of the opposite sex duo. By having this mix on microphone, you have a certain amount of flare, and appeal to it. This is a great way to obtain a scheme or gimmick. By having this type of broadcast you can consider this a theme. There are many things that people could easily find entertaining about this type of duo, the difference of opinion between a man and a woman being the first and foremost. Women add a sense of flare to just about anything they do, mix this with the dry and sometimes slower dry nature of a sports cast and this is a recipe for success. There are many ways to have people interested in a Podcast, but one of the more proven success stories is by having a theme to the show. This is easily the best way to keep the show on the air, as people then look forward to it and go out of their way to ensure they get their fix for the day.
